Horse Riding

1. To the Valle de Quitor:
Length: 2 hours of horseback riding.
Distance: 6 km.
Itinerary:
Leave explora by horse towards the Valle de Quitor. Visit the Indian ruins (Pukara) and return via the looout point in the Valle de la Muerte.
Available: Morning or afternoon.
Altitude: 2,400 meters.
Level: medium
Description of terrain: Level ground, a short rise to a lookout point.
Other: Constant exposure to sun.

2. To the Valle de la Muerte:
Length:
2 hours of horseback riding.
Distance: 6 km.
Itinerary: Leave explora by horse to the Valle de la Muerte. Ride through the valley and across sand dunes. Return via a lookout point.
Available: Morning or afternoon.
Altitude: 2,400 meters.
Level: medium
Description of terrain: Level ground, followed by up down terrain and sand dunes.
Other: This is not recommended for beginners because the ride includes trotting and galloping. Constant exposure to sun.

3. To the Ayllus:
Length: 2 1/2 hours of horseback riding.
Distance: 6 and 25 km.
Itinerary:
Leave explora by horse towards Sequitor, solor, Cucuter or Tulor. Ride through the Ayllu. Return.
Available: Morning or afternoon.
Altitude: 2,400 meters.
Level: easy Description of terrain: Varied.
Other: Horse back ride to Sequitor and Aolor are for beginners, and rides to Cucuter or Tulor are for experienced riders. Constant exposure to the sun.

4. Las Cornisas:
Length:
3 hours of horseback riding.
Distance:
20 km.
Itinerary:
Leave explora by horse to the Valle de Quitor, climb to a tunnel and through the Cordillera de la Sal, the Cornisas (Cornises) area and return through the Valle de la Muerte.
Available: Morning or afternoon.
Altitude: 2,400 to 2,600 meters.
Level: Difficult
Description of terrain: Step climbs, descents through steep sand.
Other: Only for experts. Constant exposure to the sun.

5. To Rio Grande :
Length:
8 hours of horseback riding (one way).
Distance: 30 km.
Itinerary: Leave explora by horse towards the Valle de Quitor, Catarpe, bocatoma, altos de San Bartolo, Rio Grande, Return by Van to Explora.
Available: Morning. Altitude: 2,400 to 3,300 meters.
Level: Difficult Description of terrain: Level followed by climbs and descents, and crossing rivers. Other: Only for experts. Constant exposure to the sun.

6. Quebrada del Diablo:
Length:
3 hours of horseback riding.
Distance: 16 km.
Itinerary: Leave explora by horse along the road to the Rio San Pedro.
Available: Morning or afternoon.
Altitude: 2,400 to 2,500 meters.
Level: Difficult
Description of terrain: Irregular Trail with a river crossing, sand, tight curves and jumps.
Other: Only for experts. Constant exposure to the sun.
